From Scotland to Poland
Poland trips, planned from Scotland
Two days off is enough. I put together short trips to Kraków, Zakopane and Silesia — flights, transfers, places to eat and a route that fits the time you actually have.

Mountains
The Tatra mountains, wooden highlander architecture, thermal pools and trails that run from gentle valley walks to full ridge days.

Industrial heritage
Coal mines turned museums, brick workers' settlements, brutalist landmarks and a food scene most visitors to Poland never see.

Why bother
Most people put Poland on a someday list, then spend the long weekend at home because planning it felt like work. The flights are cheap and frequent, the distances inside southern Poland are short, and a Friday-to-Sunday trip genuinely fits a city, a mountain and a proper meal.
What it needs is someone who knows which route to skip, which mountain hut is worth the climb, and how long the airport transfer really takes on a Friday afternoon. That's the part I do.
Itineraries start from your flight times and days available, not a fixed brochure week.
I grew up in southern Poland. Recommendations come from having been there, repeatedly, off season included.
Transfers, rail, tickets for the busy sites, and a plan B for the weather.
The Scottish advantage
From Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen you're roughly three hours from Kraków or Katowice, in the same-ish time zone, with no jet lag to absorb on the Monday. That is the whole argument for treating Poland as a weekend destination rather than a two-week holiday.
I'm based in Scotland, so the plan starts from your departure airport and works backwards — including the bit where you need to be back at your desk.
